Weekly Watering Guide

Wondering how often to water your lawn? The Utah Division of Water Resources has done the work for you with their Weekly Watering Guide.

Nobody wants a brown lawn, but the fact is many people water their lawn far more than needed to keep it green. That’s waste we can’t afford with Utah’s current water situation.

You can cut back on waste using the Weekly Watering Guide, which recommends the number of irrigation cycles in a week for each Utah county based on the weather forecast and local conditions. We recommend you bookmark it and check it weekly.

Once you know how many cycles to run for the week, use these recommendations from Utah State University’s Center for Water Efficient Landscaping to for your system’s recommended cycle length:

This chart shows how different sprinkler heads apply water differently. Notice that faster precipitation = a shorter runtime.
